Who we are
The Greater Yakima Girls Youth Softball Association was formed to provide opportunities for girls, age 10-18, to play softball. The organization supports a league with teams in three divisions: 10 and up, 12 and up, 14 and up.
GYGSA sponsors 10 major tournaments a year with girls in all divisions playing against other teams from around the Pacific Northwest states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Western Montana.
Greater Yakima Girls Softball Association (GYGSA) has been involved in girls fast-pitch for over 30 years. On December 2nd, 1983 an agreement between the newly formed GYGSA and the City of Union Gap granted us the go ahead to convert Cahalan Park into a four field softball complex. After 18 years at Cahalan Park and outgrowing the site GYGSA moved to Carlon Park in Selah. On July 14, 2005 we partnered with the City of Selah to convert Carlon Park (then a 30 year old, three field slow pitch complex) into what we have today.
GYGSA has invested over $100,000, along with countless donations to have a dedicated, four field complex that hosts GYGSA fast-pitch league, numerous tournaments and various sporting events. Many updates have been made to facility over the years. Most recently, we added score boxes to the fields. We are very thankful to the City of Selah and all the support we have in helping to foster the love of softball to girls throughout the Yakima Valley.
